Sactown Disc Club is a social and athletic club for ultimate frisbee and disc golf players in the Sacramento area.
Our vision is to build a not-for-profit, membership-based club centered around the sports of Ultimate and disc golf, that has a lot of fun fielding multiple teams in existing divisions and leagues & supporting the growth of both sports via clinics and support of youth.
Our mission is:
- to build on, support and participate in the efforts of other great organizers and organizations already promoting disc sports as a positive force in the Sacramento area;
- to offer an alternative to the standard club tryout process by organizing, supporting and fielding club disc teams directly composed of club members;
- to foster diversity in the sport of Ultimate and promote development and opportunities for youth (especially under-privileged youth), by partnering with community organizations to sponsor school and recreational youth disc teams and clinics.
- to promote long-term social integration by providing a consistent social experience and competitive/developmental athletic framework from year to year.
Our current goal is to prove that this idea can be a worthwhile endeavor for all intended participants.
This means:
- reaching and maintaining 50+ adult club members (100+ would be ideal!),
- competing for fun and glory in USAU-sanctioned events in whatever gender/age division teams form within SDC (support 3-6 competitive and developmental club frisbee teams in different divisions), and
- supporting organized disc at the college level (Sac State), and for local middle and high schools youth.
